Richard brings a unique combination of skills and experience to The Original Golf School. Academic training and research in sports psychology, kinesiology, coaching education, and sports management experience contribute to his ability to help students find their personal path to golfing success, especially those with physical limitations. Richards' appreciation for the value of mental and physical fitness training to enhance sports performance has not been limited to golf. A collegiate golfer with Class A member of the PGA of America, he was also a Class I Olympic weightlifter, coach and administrator of the national and internation competition within the AAU and the United States Olympic Weightlifting Federation. He served as a member of the Maryland Physical Fitness Commission, the American Coaching Effectiveness Program, and the PAR Performance Training Institute. An avid golf historian with international playing experience, Richard's interest in the evolution of the golf swing and golf instruction helps students link to the traditions as well as the techniques of the game. His experiences with the PGA tour as an official starter and first tee announcer at events such and the Kemper, Booze Allen, FBR, United States Open, United States Senior Open and the British Open which provides him with a unique perspective resulting from up close interaction with many of the games great players of the last 20 years.
